Travelling as Part of a Field Trip, Student Placement or Research Activity?
The purpose of RMM 801 Field Trips, Student Placements and Research Activity Planning and Approval Program is to ensure the safety of all people participating in field trip, student placement and research activities.
In addition a guidelines document is available to assist in completing the process.
If you have completed a risk assessment for a course or activity before 2017, please update this risk assessment using the template on our webpage.
Some of the main changes to the RMM at that time included:
- Time frame defined for submission
- Traveller responsibility to check status of country prior to leaving
- Approval steps clearly stated to include that for L3 and L4 countries
- Undergrads no approval for travel to L3/L4 countries
- Definition of low risk, significant risk, extreme risk
- Checklist for research activities
- Checklist for fieldtrips
- Checklist for out of country student placements
- Department/Faculty to receive and maintain travel itinerary
The current RMM also includes more detailed checklists that need to be completed as part of the risk assessment package.
