August 2020: Mosaic Rapid Release
Goal: PeopleTools Upgrade (PTools 8.58.4) for Finance and Human Resources
What has changed?
We upgraded our PeopleTools (the wrapper that we use to access Mosaic) to the latest offering from our software provider in our Mosaic Portal. Having all streams on the same PTools version is important in an interconnected ERP system.
Due to the need to test integrations with a PeopleTools upgrade, there are efficiencies to be gained in upgrading multiple streams at the same time.
Goal: Fix the issue on Query Manager pertaining to Related Content
What has changed?
Users in Query Manager who noticed a need to Open/Close the Related Content pane in order to be able to type in the Search Field will be happy to hear that this Vendor issue has been resolved!
Bug Resolution is one of the many perks of doing a PeopleTools Upgrade!
Goal: Improve pay accuracy and pay handling for exception hourly ESA
What has changed?
We have automated the handling of Exception Hourly employees who are on an ESA0HR schedule for Civic and University Holidays.
Developed in response to changing business practices: scheduled hours for interim employees on a set schedule.
Goal: Improve efficiency for processing monthly HR reports to unions
What has changed?
The Metrics & Analysis team has automated the running of monthly Collective Bargaining Agreement reporting, by creating an automated batch process and fine tuning the CBA reports to remove any need for manual formatting after they are run.
This change provides our unions with the information they require in a more efficient way.
Goal: Support a business process change to Tuition Calculation
What has changed?
The campus team has responded ‘rapidly’ to a new requirement to assign term fees based on academic load.
Upon review of the change requirements and existing Views, a new View needed to be created.
Goal: Improve efficiency in processing Employee Tuition Reimbursement and Dependant Bursary tuition waivers
What has changed?
We have developed an exciting new way to manage Employee Tuition Reimbursement and Dependent Bursary tuition waivers through the new AwardSpring system. A great collaboration between Campus, Finance and Human Resources!
We had just launched a Student system to apply for Scholarships and Bursaries, and were able to make use of it’s amazing capabilities in a entirely new way.
Goal: Streamline the User Experience in Navigation Collections
What has changed?
We had a request to link directly to a new Navigation Collection from within an existing Navigation Collection.
Another first for us, suggested by the McMaster community.
Goal: Enhance Self Service access for Employees (Phase III)
What has changed?
Further to our adding a direct Tile link to Employee Self Service (ESS), and opening up Pay and Opt for Electronic Tax Slips tiles on the ESS page, we have completed the last stage of this migration by turning off access to those tiles from Mosaic Home.
This change really sets us up well for some upcoming improvements in Employee Self Service!
Goal: Support a business change in OSAP-eligible optional supplemental fee handling
What has changed?
The OSAP confirmation of enrollment process was updated quickly to include Optional Supplemental Fees in the remit amount.
Related to the “Opt-Out” provincial program for supplementary fees, which were recently rolled back.
