The Coaching Staff at McMaster is responsible for student athlete development, management administration of programs, technical preparation and implementation of tactics and strategies, recruitment of highly motivated scholar athletes, management of coaching and support staff, health and safety of the participants, and public relations and alumni development initiatives.
ALTITUDE (Achieving Leadership Through Integrated Teamwork, Unity, Dedication, and Empowerment) is a program designed to offer leadership, experiential education, and team building experiences to students, youth, adults, sports teams, business organizations and more.
The David Braley Sport Medicine and Rehabilitation Centre provides an extensive and collaborative approach to the prevention, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries to McMaster athletes, students alumni, faculty, staff, and members of the greater Hamilton community. They provide various services such as physiotherapy, massage therapy, osteopathy, custom orthotics, and registered dietitians.
Fitness Instructors design and lead fitness classes for Pulse members (drop-in schedule). Instructors help create a positive space and inviting environment to foster new and returning members in living healthy active lifestyles.
McMaster provides Sports Camps, Adventure Education Camps, and Leadership and Team Development Camps during the spring, the summer, and through March Break.
The Pulse Fitness Centre provides services and resources to students and staff to help lead an active and healthy lifestyle. They offer various programs such as Intro to Rowing, Resistance Training, and Special Needs Assistance Program. Students and staff can also attend various Fitness classes instructed by certified staff members from Spin Class to Kickboxing.
McMaster Performance is a High Performance Training Centre for athletes of all ages and abilities. The department offers individual, small group, or team training, as well as various testing and assessments, therapy integrated sessions, and nutritional counselling.
Recreation Services is responsible for unit leadership; strategic direction; short term and long-term planning; policy development and the overall direction of the recreation unit including human resources, operation, finance and project management.
The Facilities team manages all athletic and rental events held within the McMaster Athletic Facilities. They are responsible for the coordination of the scheduling of all athletic and recreation facilities including gymnasium, fields, concessions, locker rooms, and meeting rooms.
The Marketing and Business Development office is responsible for the development and execution of marketing, communication and business development plans that will enhance the image and promote the offerings of the department of Athletics and Recreation.
Aquatics staff are responsible for supervising the pool area and providing a safe, enjoyable experience for pool users. They ensure injuries are kept to a minimum by identifying, minimizing and eliminating hazardous situations or behaviours, and administer first aid as needed.
