Caregiving Essentials – Free Online Course starting Summer 2019
Do you act as the primary caregiver for an older adult every day? Have you been frustrated with finding the information and supports you need?
Enhance your knowledge and skills through Caregiving Essentials, a free online course.
You will access information over the internet at your own pace, as well as meet others through an online discussion board.
Caregiving Essentials is a free, 8-week online course for family or informal caregivers of older adults. Participants will work through online training at their own pace and when it is most convenient (30 – 60 minutes/week is recommended). There are no assignments or grades, rather, participants will be guided through informative modules and a wide variety of resources. Participants will be prompted to participate in online discussions with others in similar situations and to create a Caregiver Action Plan (CAP).
TOPICS WILL INCLUDE:
- Becoming a caregiver, including legal and financial information
- How to navigate the health care system and get the supports you need
- How to take care of yourself so you can care for someone else
- Health and medical information
