COVID-19 HR Payroll Update – ESA Temporary/Casual Payroll Processing 202008-SAM
Disclaimer: This message is meant for administrators with access in Mosaic to Report and/or Approve time for one or more direct reports or departmental employees.
This is an update on the Continuance of Pay that was previously communicated to supervisors and administrators on March 20th regarding payroll continuity in response to COVID-19.
McMaster University announced the decision to continue to compensate all employees up to April 5, 2020, and is committed to ensuring that all employees will continue to be compensated for the three-week period through the pay period ending (and including) April 4, 2020.
Interim (Temporary/Casual) ESA Staff – Continuance of Pay 202008-SAM
Active interim (temporary/casual) staff governed by the ESA who do not have a set schedule will also continue to receive pay through the pay period ending April 4, 2020.
For employees who meet this criteria, a timesheet upload has now been processed by Human Resources for the 202008-SAM pay deposit. The time loaded to timesheets for the pay period dates of March 22 – April 4 reflects an 8 week average. A calculation of the total number of regular hours from the finalized pay periods between January 12, 2020 and March 7, 2020, divided by the total number of active pay periods was used to calculate this average.
To honour our commitment to pay for these employees, please do not reduce hours uploaded by Human Resources to the timesheet. If your employee has worked more than the average hours loaded, please continue to enter and approve these additional hours on the timesheet in accordance with the payroll cut off schedule. Please refer to the FAQ for Department Managers/Administrators for more information on this timesheet upload for ESA employees with no set schedule. Those ESA employees who are setup as exception hourly and do not require time entry will continue to have their regular schedules generated through the pay period ending (and including) April 4, 2020.
Changes to Time Entry Deadline 202008-SAM
Due to the upcoming holiday – Good Friday (Friday, April 10, 2020), the deadline for time entry and approval for the next Staff Pay (202008-SAM) is Friday, April 3, 2020 by 3:00 pm as outlined on the payroll cut off schedule.
