In celebration of Mental Health Week 2025 (May 5th – 11th), the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Hamilton is hosting a series of community events. To kick off the week, they invite you to a TAMI (Talking About Mental Illness) session featuring Dave “Chops” Phillips. Dave is a retired EMS helicopter pilot who, after confronting the challenges of PTSD in 2015, has become a passionate advocate for mental health awareness. Today, through his work with Code33 Apparel, Dave inspires both first responders and the wider community to speak up, seek support, and embrace authentic wellness.
First introduced by CMHA in 1951, 2025 marks the 74th annual Mental Health Week in Canada. Mental Health Week is a social change campaign to educate the public and shift beliefs and perceptions about mental health. It helps promote behaviours and attitudes that foster well-being, support good mental health and create a culture of understanding and acceptance.
This year’s theme, “Unmasking Mental Health,” highlights the power of authenticity and vulnerability in fostering deeper connections, self-acceptance, and healing for all.
