New HR Workforce dashboards have arrived at McMaster

Working to improve the Oracle BI dashboard experience: New HR Workforce dashboards have arrived at McMaster
Over the past few months, the Human Resources and IRA teams have been collaboratively working together to develop the Oracle Business Intelligence (BI) HR Workforce Dashboard. The Oracle BI HR Workforce Dashboard will enable HR data users and leaders across the McMaster University community to make evidence-based decisions.
The Oracle BI HR Workforce Dashboard went live on March 21, 2022, providing Mosaic HR data users and leaders within Human Resources, faculty areas, and department areas with access to interactive workforce dashboards and reports to help understand and explore employee workforce data. Users can apply filters, swap columns in and out of tables, view graphs and charts, and much more.
The Oracle BI HR Workforce Dashboard includes aggregated employee demographic data, benefit, pension, and Group RRSP enrollment statistics, and year over year trending of employee life cycle events such as hires, rehires, promotions, career growths, transfers, terminations, retirements, and leaves of absence. The charts and tables within the reports are interactive and allow users to compare workforce data for different employee groups, or to see how a department’s workforce changes over time.
In addition, users can navigate to pages such as:
- Employee Overview to filter data by department, union, employee type, job description, pay grade, and more, while breaking down employee counts, average hourly wage, average years of service, and employee group distribution.
- Benefit, Pension, and Group RRSP Enrolment to display employees with benefits and/or group RRSP/Pension enrolment. Information can be filtered by department, length of service, generational groupings, union codes and more.
- Attraction Summary to show hire, rehire, and vacancy information and allowing users to break data down by date ranges, job code, union code, department, employee class and more.
- Development Summary to display internal McMaster movements, such as promotions, transfers, and career growths – allowing users to select any date range of interest and breaking down the data by job code, union code, department, employee class, and more.
- Retention and Turnover Summary to gather insight on termination and retirement counts, retention ratios, and average years of service at termination instances. Users can view peak months where termination and retirement instances occur, with the ability to display year over year reporting by selecting a wider date range.
- Leave of Absence Summary to explore a department’s leave of absence data and yearly trends – including sick leaves, pregnancy leaves, and parental leaves.
Support and training to use the BI HR Workforce Dashboard are available through:
- Visiting the IRA website (training videos, manuals and FAQs);
- Weekly training and support sessions through Microsoft Teams every Friday from 9:00am to 10:00am.
- Email irahelp@mcmaster.ca to schedule group or one-on-one training sessions.
We encourage you to try this new dashboard and provide your feedback by emailing the IRA or HR team to help us improve moving forward. We also encourage you to submit your continuous improvement recommendations via the Oracle BI HR Workforce Survey.
