News to Use – October 2022

News to Use is a monthly summary of HR information for all employees of McMaster University.   

Pre-Hire MacID eForm Update – With the introduction of the Pre-Hire MacID, department administrators, hiring managers, recruitment coordinators and HR teams can now obtain a new MacID through an automated self-service eForm solution. This new process is working well and has helped expedite a portion of the employee onboarding phase.

To promote continuous improvement, and after receiving feedback from our users, there has been an update made to the Pre-Hire MacID eForm to allow submission of MacID requests for retroactive hires. As of October 14th, a Pre-Hire MacID eForm can be submitted if the submission date is within 7 days after the start date. Submitters should submit the Pre-Hire MacID eForm and submit the hire paperwork to hr.mcmaster@mcmaster.ca and then update the ticket once the MacID has been generated.   

Mosaic Rapid Release Update – The latest Mosaic Rapid Release launched on October 13, 2022    

This month 11 system improvements, enhancements and upgrades were implemented to help improve the user experience and increase efficiencies within the HR, Campus and Finance modules of Mosaic.  To learn more about the changes and how they can benefit you and your teams, visit the October 2022: Mosaic Rapid Release page on the HR Website.

 New Data Cookbook Integration with Mosaic – To support service excellence across the institution, Human Resources (HR), Data Governance, and UTS teams have been collaboratively working together to seamlessly integrate McMaster’s centralized repository for data (Data Cookbook) with the HR Reporting Hub in Mosaic HR.  

This update means a better experience for users including the ability to standardize and generate more consistent HR reports, access data definitions associated with report contents and introduce data governance best practices across the University.

September HR Network Session Recap – Human Resources hosts monthly HR Network Sessions with a focus on broad HR-related information and resources including how they’ll improve the employee experience for the larger McMaster community. This is an opportunity to share experience, successes, feedback, and learn more about what’s happening in HR.    

In the September 2022 HR Network Session, the below topics were covered:  

• Payroll Updates   
• Overview of data governance and an introduction of the Data Cookbook integration with the HR Reporting Hub    
• UF1 contract extensions and applicable eForm updates   
• Introduction of Bill 88 – Electronic Monitoring Policy
