Nominations are Open for the President’s Awards for Outstanding Service

To: All members of the McMaster Community

I am pleased to announce that nominations are now open for the President’s Awards for Outstanding Service. This has once again been an extraordinary year and McMaster community members are asked to recognize employees who have gone above and beyond during the 2024 calendar year. Recognition plays a critical role in retaining talent, celebrating our diverse employee community and promoting continued progress towards institutional values and goals. Please consider nominating those who are consistently outstanding in their service and/or innovation, or who repeatedly enhance our university’s reputation through their outstanding work.

The President’s Awards for Outstanding Service were introduced to acknowledge employees who are:

  • Non-teaching members of the University community
  • Full or part-time employees from operations, research and ancillary departments or units of McMaster University and
  • Employed on a continuing basis or for a term or contract of one or more year’s duration.

The President’s Awards for Outstanding Service offers a maximum of 10 awards honouring individuals or teams (with a maximum of 2 group awards), along with one lifetime achievement, one early achievement award, and up to two special achievement awards. The nominees and award recipients are acknowledged for their achievements through various online and print media, and at a celebratory event on May 8, 2025.

Please help us recognize and honour McMaster’s outstanding staff members by taking the time to complete a nomination.

The submission process is straightforward. Any member of the McMaster community can be a nominator. For further information about the awards criteria and the nomination process, visit the program website.

The website offers tips on how to prepare a successful nomination submission, examples of previous successful nominations and details of the program policy in PDF format. Related inquiries can be directed to presidentsawards@mcmaster.ca. Nominations will include information on how nominees go above and beyond in demonstrating inclusive excellence, volunteerism and service, innovation and more.

Nomination applications for individuals and teams may be requested online until January 14, 2025 at 4 p.m. and completed nomination applications and supporting documents must be received no later than February 2, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. The celebratory event to honour the achievements of nominees and recipients will be held on May 8, 2025.

All submissions will be reviewed by the President’s Awards Advisory Committee who will provide me with their recommendations. I will have the pleasure of announcing the award recipients in the spring.
