Pension Portal

As an active member of the Salaried Pension Plan 2000, you can now access the Pension Portal through Mosaic under Employee Self Service. The portal will provide you with pension information regarding your key retirement dates, beneficiary and spousal information, access to your annual pension statements, and the ability to run your own pension estimates. Please watch the video on ‘Guide to the Pension Portal’ below for help on navigation through the portal. If you would like more detailed information while navigating the portal, please refer to the user guide on the home page of the portal.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, there is a detailed user guide on the Home Page once you log into the Pension Portal.

The following information is accessible on the Pension Portal:

  • Key retirement dates (early, unreduced, and normal retirement dates)
  • Access to annual pension statements from 2015 onwards
  • Spouse and beneficiary information (view only)
  • Retirement Modeller where you can run your own retirement estimates

When you run a pension estimate on the portal, the amount shown on the screen will be based on the normal form of pension. The normal form of pension for members without a spouse is Life only guaranteed for 84 months. The normal form of pension for members with an eligible spouse at retirement is Joint & Survivor 50% guaranteed for 84 months. There are other forms of pension you can choose from that provide a higher or lower amount based on the option you choose. No. Most active members of the Salaried Pension Plan can access the Pension Portal; however, there is a small group who cannot access this. The following members will not have access:

  • Clinical Faculty Members
  • Members of the Original Plan

Members who cannot access the Pension Portal are encouraged to contact Human Resources Services at 905-525-9140 extension 22247 or hr.mcmaster@mcmaster.ca if they would like further information regarding their pension. 

Members of the Hourly Pension Plan do not have access to a Pension Portal.

No. The Pension Portal was created specifically for active members only. If you are a retiree and have questions about your McMaster pension, please refer to the Retiree FAQs here. Scroll to the bottom under ‘Retiree Information’. You can also contact Human Resources Services at 905-525-9140 extension 22247 or hr.mcmaster@mcmaster.ca.

Log in to Mosaic and click on ‘Mosaic Home’, then ‘Employee Self Service’. You should see a tile called ‘Pension Portal’. This will lead you to a page to type in your MACID and Password, which you will take you to the Home page of the portal.

If you cannot see the Pension Portal tile, try adding this manually by clicking on the icon in the top right corner with the 3 bars. Click ‘Personalize Homepage –> Add Tile –> type in ‘Pension Portal’ in the search field and press enter. Click on ‘Pension Portal’ to save this to your home page.

Depending on your issue, please proceed as follows:

MACID and Password 

If you’re able to click on the Pension Portal tile, but your MACID and Password is not working, please contact the Technology Service Desk by emailing uts@mcmaster.ca

Retirement Modelling Tool

If you’re not able to click on the ‘Create Estimate’ button or input assumptions in the drop-down menus of the Modeller section, your Internet browser may not be supported. Try using a different browser (e.g., Internet Explorer, Safari, etc.) . If you’re still having issues, email hr.mcmaster@mcmaster.ca and provide us with your computer settings (Microsoft Windows vs. Mac computer and the version you are using) as well as the name and version of the Internet browser you are using. This will help us to identify the issue.
