Nominations Now Open for President’s Awards for Outstanding Service

To: All members of the McMaster Community

I am pleased to announce that nominations are now open for the President’s Awards for Outstanding Service in 2023. This has clearly been an extraordinary year and McMaster community members are asked to identify employees who have contributed above and beyond during the 2023 calendar year. Recognition plays a critical role in retaining talent, celebrating our diverse employee community, and promoting continued progress towards institutional values and goals. Please consider those who are consistently outstanding in their service and/or innovation; or, who repeatedly enhance our university’s reputation through their outstanding work.

The President’s Awards for Outstanding Service were introduced to acknowledge employees who are:

• non-teaching members of the University community;
• full or part-time employees from operations, research and ancillary departments or units of McMaster University and;
• employed on a continuing basis or for a term or contract of one or more year’s duration.

A maximum of ten awards to individuals or teams (with a maximum of two team awards) along with up to one lifetime achievement, one early achievement award, and two special achievement awards are offered. The nominees and award recipients are acknowledged for their achievements through various online and print media, and at a celebratory event.

Please help us recognize and honour McMaster’s outstanding staff members by taking the time to complete a nomination.

The submission process is straightforward. Any member of the McMaster community can be a nominator. For further information about the awards criteria and the nomination process, visit the program website.

The website offers tips on how to prepare a successful nomination submission, examples of previous successful nominations and details of the program policy in pdf format. Related inquiries can be directed to presidentsawards@mcmaster.ca. Nominations will include information on how nominees go above and beyond in demonstrating inclusive excellence, volunteerism and service, innovation, and more.

Nomination applications for individuals and teams may be requested online until January 19, 2024 at 5 p.m. and completed nomination applications and supporting documents must be received no later than February 9, 2024 at 5 p.m. The celebratory event to honour the achievements of nominees and recipients will be held on May 30, 2024.

All submissions will be reviewed by the President’s Awards Advisory Committee who will provide me with their recommendations. I will have the pleasure of announcing the award recipients in the spring.
