On November 2, McMaster is excited to once again welcome grade 9 students to shadow their parents as part of Take Our Kids to Work Day! This is a great opportunity for students to develop new skills and experience a variety of career opportunities here at McMaster.

Please note that due to changes in the planning process with national and local partners, there will be no formal events or activities for students organized by McMaster. Students are still welcome to participate and shadow their parents if they wish to do so.

Please note that permission to participate in Take your Kids to Work Day must be granted by your supervisor in writing. In certain situations, your area of work may not be appropriate for a student to be present. This includes high risk areas, for example the Nuclear Reactor, Clean Rooms, BSL 2 or 3 laboratories, or any space requiring highly specialized personal protective equipment i.e., respirators, protective suits (Tyvek).

Interested in participating?

  • Registration is required for all students who are participating. If you are interested, please fill out the registration form.
  • Prior to coming to campus, students must complete the required safety training.
  • If you have any additional questions, please email toktwd@mcmaster.ca.

On Take your Kids to Work Day please ensure:

  • Provincial Worker Health and Safety Awareness Training is completed,
  • Students are supervised at all times while in the workplace,
  • Students only act as an observer,
  • Students must not be allowed to operate hazardous equipment or participate in activities using hazardous materials,
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment as designated for the space,
  • Ensure students are aware of McMaster’s Emergency Procedures, e.g., closest fire exit, emergency contact numbers.
