April 2023: Mosaic Rapid Release

Goal: Provide a way to report cancelled courses for TA employee group

What has changed: A new Query was added to the HR Strategic Reporting Hub which enables efficient reporting on course cancellations for the Cupe Unit 1 Teaching Assistants.

Anything Else I Need to Know: This audit was created to fulfill a new collective bargaining agreement requirement.

Goal: Empower students to specify the name they want recorded on their graduation certificate

What has changed: We enabled a Degree name row in Mosaic which can be edited by the student.

Anything Else I Need to Know: This leaves the Primary Name in the system intact, but allows for a variation of the name to be used on the graduation certificate.

Goal: Provide critical details and drilling links related to AR invoices in one query available via the Financial Reporting Hub

What has changed: Updates were completed to the AR Item Details query (MacBill) to include additional invoice details. Drill-down links are provided in the query results so users can quickly access invoice details, invoice image & attachments, journals and payments.

Anything Else I Need to Know: This will reduce the number of users who require additional security role access.

Goal: Enable automated processing of awards to equity seeking students

What has changed: Add equity seeking only flag to FA Item Type Criteria page, identifying those awards that have this specific criteria. This allows awards to be matched to students who have specified this on their application in AwardSpring.

Anything Else I Need to Know: This will significantly reduce manual effort involved in matching student with awards.

Goal: Automate the inclusion of students who have deferred their convocation

What has changed: Include students who have deferred their attendance from prior convocations when assigning students to ceremonies and creating Across the Stage numbers, eliminating the need for manual interventions in these cases.

Anything Else I Need to Know: We updated the Assign Ceremony and Across Stage Number batch jobs to include students who have previously deferred their convocation.

Goal: Give technicians easier access to enter time spent on Maintenance calls directly from their mobile phones

What has changed: This allows for just in time data entry and eliminates paperwork required after the fact.

Anything Else I Need to Know: Another great idea from our McMaster community!

Goal: Eliminate the need for manually handling letter requests from students who finish final courses in the fall term

What has changed: When students request a “Degree Awarded” letter, verifying their degree completion, any student who finishes their final courses in the fall term but convocates in the winter term is unable to use the request form.

Anything Else I Need to Know: A small change to the query allows students who finish courses in the fall term, but convocate in the winter term to apply for the “Degree Awarded” letter.

Goal: Enable Faculty Tracking records to be set up for future dated hires

What has changed: Previously, when new faculty records were entered on Job, they would not be available for records to be created in Faculty Tracking until their Effective Date. With high volumes of changes needed every July 1st, this was not an optimal way to handle the workload.

Anything Else I Need to Know: With a small change in a View, users are now able to select future dated records from Job Data, enabling folks to get ahead of the rush on July 1 changes. Another great idea from our McMaster community!
