Temporary, casual and/or interim staff perform a variety of functions across campus. They are employed in a position with a duration of less than 12 months or having no specified schedule for a definite or indefinite duration.

Compensation ranges for temporary/casual/interim positions are based on the level in which the job has been evaluated. See job design and evaluation section for more details on selecting or creating a position.
Job Design and Evaluation identifies the responsibilities, required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job, and is used in the evaluation process to identify the level in which the position will be paid.
Students employed under the McMaster Student Work program are considered temporary/casual/interim employees. The Student Work program is administered by the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarship.Visit their website to learn more about the eligibility and process for applying.
