Human Resources Services is pleased to offer The Working Mind training through the Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC). This mental health training directly supports our shared purpose of promoting and contributing to a healthy and safe community at McMaster University.
About the Training Course
The Working Mind (TMW) is an evidence-based training, developed to initiate a shift in the way you think, act, and feel about mental health. It was designed to provide practical knowledge and skills to address mental health and mental illness in the workplace. It is intended for employees who do not manage other employees.
Three Core Modules offer foundational content focusing on increasing self-awareness and taking care of your own mental health. An additional Leader Module is offered in the People Leader course that offers specific content focusing on helping leaders support the mental health of their team members.
Dates and Times
The three modules will be held virtually over Zoom on December 11 from 9:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. You must be available for the full course.
This course is intended for McMaster employees that do not lead other employees. We ask that you actively participate in the course and engage in your learning. Engagement includes chat activities, poll responses, breakout room discussions, reactions and verbal responses. Requirements for the course are regulated by the MHCC. Each participant will need to have access to a computer with a microphone and webcam. For learner engagement and safety, participants are expected to have cameras on during the course. To qualify for certification, you may not miss more than 30 minutes over the entirety of the course.
Cost & Cancellation:
This program is funded by McMaster University. Those who cancel their registration within seven calendar days or less of the course start date, or who miss more than 30 minutes of the classes and cannot be certified, will have an administrative fee ($100) billed to their department. A minimum number of participants is required for the course to take place and may be rescheduled if there is insufficient attendance. You will be asked to provide your departmental account information (Mosaic Chartfield) when you complete the registration form. The information will only be used in the event that the cancellation policy needs to be applied.
If registration is full, please add your name to the waitlist and we will contact you if a space becomes available. Additional course dates can be found on our website.
