This session is being offered by the Organizational Development team in Human Resources Services to support people leaders as part of the Return to McMaster Oversight Committee recommendations.
Now, more than ever, we need to accept that no one can do it all and make everyone happy. We’re all facing more change, faster than ever, and simply adding everything to our to-do list is not a productive (or sustainable) approach. Navigating change means having thought-out, courageous conversations about what is, and what is not a priority. “No” is the new “Yes” because it’s starts this new conversation.
This highly engaging 2-hour virtual session will provide you with practical strategies to help you develop your skills around how to triage change and manage expectations.
Content includes:
- Using a 4 Step Process (and good questions) to help you identify when to negotiate incoming demands on your time and how to do so with tact and diplomacy.
- Team Strategies to help us triage change. Establishing expectations for response times to email & instant messages (an informal “Team Charter”) so that we respond in a timely manner without reacting unnecessarily to lower priority messages.
- The “Next 10 Request” exercise. A practical exercise to help us apply this learning and develop our skills for triaging change.
Register for this virtual session using Zoom meeting.
