We all have a role to play in maintaining a safe work environment at McMaster. As an employee, completing the required health and safety training programs ensures you’re aware of safe practices in the workplace, how to prevent injuries and create a physically and psychologically safe work culture.

The new SAFE training module is now available, combining four existing mandatory health and safety training courses into one 30-minute video, making it easier and more accessible to learn how to stay safe on campus. The SAFE training module combines: Slips, Trips and Falls, Asbestos Awareness, Fire Safety and Ergonomics.

  • For new employees: All new employees will be automatically enrolled in the SAFE training module. This mandatory training is available in Avenue to Learn.
  • For current employees: You are only required to complete the SAFE training once one of the four required Health and Safety training programs is up for renewal in Mosaic. For example, if Fire Safety training is due November 25, 2023, then you should register for and complete the SAFE training module. Following completion, the SAFE training module will ensure you’re up to date on all four required Health and Safety training modules for five years. To register or to find out if you’re due for renewal, login to Mosaic. Once you register for SAFE training, you should be able to access the module in Avenue to Learn within 30 minutes.
