Employee Health & Safety Checklist
Site Specific and Role Specific Training
Site specific and role specific training first requires a job hazard analysis to identify the primary hazards of an individual’s work and the required training as a result. Managers should schedule a meeting with their employees to review the JHA and identify any additional training courses that may need to be completed. A JHA can be completed in Mosaic HR – Self Service by navigating to the “Job Hazard Analysis” tile on the “My Regulatory Training” homepage.

It grants them the necessary access to Mosaic and Avenue to Learn to complete their required Health and Safety training. Refer to the Person of Interest/Role Based Accounts webpage for more information.
Site Specific and Role Specific Training – As Required
Many roles and workspaces within the University require specific training due to the exposure of hazards within that role or workspace. An important and mandatory component of health and safety at McMaster is a documented Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) of main activities associated with each employee. A job hazard analysis is essential in clarifying the work to be done in conjunction with the hazards and controls that are associated with the activity. Each workplace task outlines and identifies health and safety hazards and their required training that is above and beyond the mandatory Health and Safety Training.
All information pertaining to Job Hazard Analysis can be found on the Human Resources webpage for Job Hazard Analysis.
JOB AID – How to Complete a JHA
Your manager will book some time to take you through a JHA at which time additional training courses may be identified depending on your role within the university and workplace environment. For a detailed list of all role specific training please review the training matrices.
