Site Specific and Role Specific Training – As Required

An important and mandatory component of health and safety at McMaster is a documented job hazard analysis (JHA) of main activities associated with each employee.  A job hazard analysis is essential in clarifying the work to be done in conjunction with the hazards and controls that are associated with the activity.  Each workplace task outline identifies health and safety hazards and their required training.

Your manager will book some time to take you through a JHA at which time additional training courses may be identified depending on your role within the university and workplace environment.  For a detailed list of all role specific training please review the training matrices.

For Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) employees, please visit the FHS Safety Office for additional training requirements.

Complete a Job Hazard Analysis (JHA with your Direct Reports)

An important and mandatory component of health and safety at McMaster is a documented job hazard analysis (JHA) of main activities associated with each employee.  A job hazard analysis is essential in clarifying the work to be done in conjunction with the hazards and controls that are associated with the activity.  While reviewing a list of the main activities involved with each job, common hazards are identified. This form is to be completed for new hires, rehires, position changes and new task assignments.  The employee also has the ability to create their own JHA to review with their supervisor.
