McMaster Pulse at Pace Program
March 4 – April 24, 2024
Sponsored by Athletics & Recreation and Sun Life Financial, Pulse at PACE is a pilot project to help McMaster faculty and staff get active. Pulse at Pace will be running on Monday’s and Wednesdays from 12 p.m. – 1 p.m.
The Physical Activity Centre for Excellence (PACE) features more than 50 pieces of exercise training equipment, including treadmills, stair-climbers, stationary bicycles, arc trainers, and nu-steps. There is also state-of-the-art strength training equipment, as well as free weights, resistance bands, and raised exercise mats.
Employees must register in advance for a time slot in order to attend.

McMaster Wellness Week
In partnership with Athletics & Recreation, Employee Wellness Week is March 5-7, 2024, and offers employees free in-person physical activity classes. Employees are encouraged to register for and attend as many of the sessions as they choose. Change facilities will be available for all in-person sessions.
Tuesday March 5 – Stretch and Strength
12 p.m. – 12:45 p.m.
Location: The Pulse – Fitzhenry Studio
A 45-minute class for all fitness levels and experience. You will stretch and strengthen your muscles leaving you feeling energized and rejuvenated. Instructor is Fitness and Wellness Manager Lee-Anne Wilson
Wednesday March 6 – Group Cycle
12 p.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Location: The Pulse – Studio 2
In the saddle, out of the saddle, speed work, hills – this class has it all! Every fitness level is welcome for this 30-minute ride led by Maureen MacDonald
Thursday March 7 – Yoga
12 p.m. – 12:45 p.m.
Location: The Pulse – Fitzhenry Studio
This 45-minute class will increase functional flexibility, enhance body control, connect mind and body and create a sense of balance and vitality. This class is open to all experience levels. Mats are provided.

The Ultimate Trivia Night at the Phoenix Crafthouse and Grill!
Are you ready to test your knowledge and have some fun? Join us for the ultimate trivia night at the Phoenix Bar and Grill! You can compete in teams of up to 4-6 people or go solo if you’re feeling brave. There are prizes for the top teams, as well as raffles throughout the night. The trivia questions cover a range of topics, from history and geography to pop culture and sports. Whether you’re a trivia buff or a casual fan, you’ll find something to challenge and entertain you. Don’t miss this chance to show off your smarts and enjoy a great night out with friends and colleagues!

McMaster is Hosting an Eclipse Viewing Party!
Date: April 8, 2024
It’s a once-in-a-lifetime event that’ll have you looking up from your phone for at least a couple hours on Monday, April 8.
McMaster and Hamilton will be among the few places in North America to experience a total solar eclipse. The eclipse will start at 2:03 p.m. and end by 4:30 p.m. The Moon will completely block the Sun for 96 seconds starting at 3:18 p.m., turning mid-afternoon into midnight and filling the sky with stars.
This’ll be the first total solar eclipse over McMaster since Jan. 24, 1925. The next won’t happen until Oct. 26, 2144.

Experimenting with mediums as varied as painting, sculpture and photography, Toronto-based artist Rajni Perera expresses her vision of imagined futures in which mutated subjects exist in dystopian realms. Drawing deeply on the artistic traditions of her birthplace, Sri Lanka, as well as Indian miniature painting, medieval armour and science fiction, Perera has created a body of work that spans feminist and diasporic themes, while contemplating survival in an environmentally degraded future. We Remain Certain shows the enduring relationship between Haudenosaunee and their home in Grand River Territory. A group exhibition curated by a collective of Haudenosaunee artists, these contemporary works explore Haudenosaunee land tenure and the complex history, treaty agreements, and displacements along the Grand.
