NEW! Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (EDIA) Fundamentals Learn More
The Equity and Inclusion Office has just launched a new FREE asynchronous training module, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (EDIA) Fundamentals!
Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (EDIA) Fundamentals
We are excited for the campus community to engage with this foundational content which was curated and created by the Equity, Diversity, and Anti-Oppression Program Team, to aid in continuing to promote a campus culture of belongingness that fosters Inclusive Excellence.
The EDIA Fundamentals module is a 5-part module designed to provide students, staff, and faculty at McMaster with an accessible and open access opportunity to learn about EDIA, Anti-Racism, and Anti-Oppression. Each “part” is thematically organized to contain a mixture of narrative, video, and audio-narrated slide deck content, with activities to ground your learning in a flexible and digestible fashion.
In total, the mandatory portions of the module should take approximately 3 hours to complete and there is a short evaluation in the form of a quiz at the end, to recall your knowledge and to successfully complete this educational offering. This module will be hosted on Avenue to Learn, and you can enroll in the module on Mosaic.

Inclusive Teaching and Learning Resources Learn More
Here we provide resources, links and tools that instructors may find helpful in creating inclusive teaching and learning spaces. Philosophically, we have grounded these resources in Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Accessibility, and Decolonization best practices (EDIAD) for university teaching and learning. These principles are integrated with Anti-Racist pedagogical implications and Indigenous Andragogical considerations, all of which contribute to the development of inclusive, diverse, and accessible teaching methods.
Mental Health Resources and Training
In January 2013 Canada released a voluntary national standard for psychological health and safety in the workplace.
McMaster has long been committed to the health and well-being of all employees and is reviewing and developing additional workplace supports in recognition of this standard.
Mental illness affects everyone sooner or later – one in five people will experience a mental illness directly. Those of us who do not have a mental health concern ourselves, will have a friend, colleague, or family member who is dealing with a mental health issue.
A psychologically healthy work environment supports employee engagement, worker health and well-being, recruitment and retention, productivity, effective risk management and corporate social responsibility. The supports provided at McMaster aim to foster mental wellness in you and those you know.
